Canada Music Academy Director Supports Jeunesses Musicales with her Award Winning Piano Skills

Canada Music Academy Director and All You Need Music co-owner, Samia O’Day donated her time and talent at a fundraising cocktail party earlier this month to help cover costs of a free concert being offered by Jeunesses Musicales to school children. An award winning concert pianist and music education advocate, Samia delighted the guests in attendance with a mini concert featuring pieces by Bach, Chopin and Debussy. The evening ultimately raised enough money to cover the costs of concert as well as promote artist outreach in schools. Samia was proud to be part of such a worthy event and to support Jeunesses Musicales who is helping expose young Canadians to classical music all over the country.

The Canada Music Academy is proud to be an official sponsor of the 1000 Islands Jazz & Blues Festival taking place this June in Brockville Ontario. Featuring major artists such as Oliver Jones and Julie Lamontagne, the festival will run from June 13th until the 17th and has earned a reputation for being the best small jazz festival in Canada. Our partner store All You Need Music will also be hosting the closing event, a jazz and blues BBQ featuring Barry Greene, outside their flagship store in Brockville. The Canada Music Academy and our partner store All You Need Music will be closed on Friday April 6th and Monday April 9th and will resume normal business hours on Tuesday the 10th. Although our offices will be closed, you can always register for lessons, or make a purchase from our store directly from our website and receive confirmation by email. Academy Teacher Joanna Peters Makes a Difference in Music Class

Joanna Peters, long time teacher at the Academy, has always volunteered in her community and in schools to help bring music back into the classroom however this past year, she went a step further and altered the landscape of one school’s music program.

Having heard about Musicounts, a charitable organize that provides band aid grants to schools across Canada, she filled out a 30 page application for her local school and was ecstatic to learn the school had been granted $5000 to spend on instruments.

Joanna and the school’s music teacher then turned to All You Need Music and were able to buy a wide range of instruments from the store at educational rates that stretched their budget as far as it could go. With students now having access to xylophones, metallophones, hand drums, and various other percussion instruments, their music education program can now attain a level that it could never have in the past. The Canada Music Academy, along with our partner store, All You Need Music, is excited to announce the opening of our new branch in Brockville Ontario. The newest of Academy branches combines the dynamic and innovative music lessons that the Academy has become known for, with a full service music store offering a wide variety of instruments and pro audio gear at affordable prices. Students can choose from private or group lessons taught by Certified Academy teachers in programs ranging from piano, guitar, voice, drums, cello, viola, violin, music for children, jazz band, rock band as well as vocal and string ensembles.
