Certified Canada Music Academy teacher since 2013.
Bryne studied jazz guitar at York University in Toronto for his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, graduating summa cum laude with the highest cumulative GPA in both the music and fine arts programs. While pursuing his M.A. degree at York as a Canadian Graduate Scholar he analyzed the chord progressions of Weezerís first five studio albums using Harmonic Vector analysis (practiced by his colleagues at the PhD program at the University of Paris at the Sorbonne) and interviewed the bandís lead singer.
Bryne began producing music at age 16 and ran a recording studio for 12 years, producing 17 full-length albums. He has worked as a composer for Parks and Protected Areas Alberta for four years where he was commissioned to compose the music for over 35 songs, which were featured in live musical theatre performances in Kananaskis Country, a system of parks located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains west of Calgary. He has also worked as a session musician on various instruments including guitar and keyboards at Bova Sound Studios in Ottawa, where audio post-production on Feistís two latest Juno award-winning albums was done.
Bryne specializes in teaching popular music (including rock, folk, and blues) on guitar and keyboards, and jazz harmony and improvisation on guitar. He emphasizes both playing by ear and understanding music theory, with the goal of helping students develop confidence in their musical abilities and creativity.
Bryneís objective is to help his students achieve their musical goals in as little time as is necessary while getting the most enjoyment from the process, whether it is to learn to play the chords to his/her favourite song, or to master their instrument in order to be able to spontaneously compose their own original music.
Bryne attempts to inspire his students with his own musical abilities, including the ability to play music by ear, improvise, and play songs in various keys. He takes a personal interest in his students and offers both encouragement and sincere feedback to help them improve and achieve their musical goals in a timely manner.
