Certified CMA teacher since 2011, Jorge is welcome addition to our school. Teaching music since 2002, this talented guitarist, arranger, composer and teacher is well versed in a wide range of styles, which he instructs in a wonderfully gentle and patient manner.

Holding a Masters degree from York University’s School of Creative and Performing Arts in popular music and jazz, Jorge is a Toronto based musician who has been performing and teaching professionally in the Toronto area since 1999.

Jorge is a dynamic musician, whose playing styles include jazz, rock, blues, and Latin music, and has performed regularly at music venues and festivals such as the TD Canada Trust Toronto Jazz festival in addition to playing at clubs and corporate events across the GTA.

An in-demand performer and teacher, Jorge released his first album in December 2010 featuring eight original compositions supported by a talented group of musicians in his band and quintet. His album has been well received by fans and critics alike. Jorge also performs with and teaches other instruments, including the electric bass and the Cuban tres, a guitar-like instrument used in classic son, salsa and Cuban music.

In addition to years of performance and teaching experience, Jorge also offers various resources to help each of his students with their musical goals and interests. For students who take lessons in studio, Jorge supports his lessons with a wide selection of resources including a constantly expanding library of music books that cover many different aspects of music including instructional music books, jazz, blues and holiday ‘fake books’, jazz and classical theory books, rock and pop sheet music, music history books and musical biographies.

Jorge also uses computer programs and music software in his studio including Cubase, Sibelius music notation software, and Miroslav Philharmonik virtual orchestra. He is available to teach the basics of these programs along with the production and composition of jazz, rock, folk music, pop/dance music and hip hop.
