Certified Canada Music Academy teacher since 2013. With great passion, Naomi takes on teaching students of all ages and walks of life through the musical mediums of voice and piano.
Naomi holds a Masters Degree in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia and an Honours Bachelor Degree in Voice Performance from the University of Windsor. With more than 20 years of piano study and over 10 years of teaching experience, Naomi takes her passion and belief that music has a place in everyone’s life, to help each student discover their own unique musical talents.
As a teacher, Naomi integrates movement, drama, linguistics and culture study into her curriculum. This combined with musicianship, awareness, diligent practice and perseverance help guide her students towards their musical goals. Each student has an individual lesson plan geared towards their strengths and experiences, helping them to make the most of their performance and practice. Naomi values each student as an individual and works earnestly to help each them cherish music in their life. She herself enjoys all styles of music and happily teaches all genres.
Music has influenced Naomi’s life more than she can describe. As an active performer in the operatic world, Naomi channels the intent of the composer and the honesty of her characters to produce what she hopes and believes is a moving experience. In the past she has portrayed the roles of First Lady in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Giorgetta in Puccini’s Il tabarro, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte by Mozart, Nella in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Helmwige in Wagner’s Die Walküre, in addition to many others. This 2013/2014 season she will take on Musetta from La Bohème and Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen. Naomi has performed both in North America and Europe and has made a point to study extensively the languages of French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Hungarian in addition to being fluent in English and German.
Naomi has a zeal, energy and passion towards life and music and aims to translate that to her students’ lives. Through both tenacity and patience she hopes to make music a meaningful part of your life.
