Biography:

Certified CMA teacher since 2011, Eric has been teaching drums since 2004, and strives to make each lesson dynamic and engaging.

He enjoys teaching students of all ages and is comfortable teaching many styles such as Rock, Pop, Jazz, Reggae, and Latin. He is a relaxed professional who can teach Drum Sets, Hand Drums and Mallets with a flexible curriculum that covers fundamental techniques yet caters to the needs of each student. He not only plays alongside his students, but makes sure that they can understand both written music and verbal instructions. Reading, groove, and technique are the main focus of his lessons, and improvisation is taught once fundamentals have been learned.

Eric completed his Honours Bachelor of Music degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, studied jazz at Humber College, and has studied drumset privately with world renowned educator Jim Blackley. Some of Eric's musical highlights have included touring Europe with soul singer Maylee Todd, opening for Gregory Isaacs with reggae band “The Human Rights”, and working as a pit orchestra percussionist with the Caravan Farm Theatre.

Eric looks forward to teaching new students of all ages.
